MY STORY
Building a career that helps businesses succeed through finance

Currently, I am an analyst on the Blueprint Equity team, a growth equity firm based in San Diego that focuses on investing in B2B Software, FinTech, Vertical SaaS, or the tech-enabled services sector. Prior to Blueprint, I was a senior business analyst at the UCSB Office of Controller, a consulting office for student organizations and on-campus enterprises, where I drove strategic frameworks and provided solutions for operations-related problems, whilst approving funding. Prior to the UCSB Office of Controller, I was a student health ambassador at UCSB Student Health Center to promote the smoke-free campus policy. I received a B.A. in Economics from UC Santa Barbara in June 2020.

More about myself...

I was born and raised in New Jersey until the age of nine and moved to South Korea. I was raised there until the age of 19 and moved to Santa Barbara, CA to attend UC Santa Barbara. Now I live in San Diego where I work for Blueprint Equity.

During my senior year in high school (TCIS), I took an economics course and fell in love with the subject. I enjoyed how each company had a mission and vision statement as if every company is an individual person with goals and ambitions. I chose to attend UCSB as an economics major in hopes that I will someday be able to contribute to the global issue of wealth inequality by facilitating economic development.

During my junior year at UCSB, I took two courses, Econometrics and Financial Management, that helped me realize that finance is not all about accounting. All of my peers were going for a CPA and I finally found my passion in a different career direction. Since I started teaching myself the skills I need for CFA and am set to sit for the level 1 exam, upcoming August 2021. I also taught myself the fundamental Python language and created a finance blog.
Studying for the CFA level 1 exam is when I first took an interest in portfolio management. I was always interested in how to generate passive income, a concept I learned while creating my Carefree Finance blog. This further pushed me to conduct projects such as the Monte Carlo simulation on Excel and Python, the Econometrics survey database analysis through Eviews and Stata, and the banking database system through MySQL.

In my free time, I love exploring new Netflix shows (Queen’s Gambit, American Horror Story, etc.) and trying out new sushi / Korean BBQ restaurants.
